Meet Our Panelist: Dr. John W. Popp, Jr.

You aren’t alone in the struggle to evaluate emerging technologies for use in your ASC.

On Thursday, May 7, from 7 to 8 p.m. CT, AMSURG’s Surgery Sessions webinar will feature firsthand insights from physicians with a range of experience and backgrounds, and questions will be taken at the end. This won’t be a sales pitch. This is a showcase of real-world experience from physicians who’ve been there.

Meet Dr. John W. Popp, Jr.

John W. Popp Jr., M.D., AMSURG Medical Director, earned his undergraduate degree in Biology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Popp earned his medical degree at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He completed his internal medicine residency and Chief Residency at Yale New Haven Hospital and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Popp has served as AMSURG Medical Director since 2017. In addition to working in private practice at Columbia (South Carolina) Gastroenterology Associates until 2006, he also served as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. In 2006, he assumed the role of Medical Director for Centocor (now Janssen), a position he held until 2017. He has served in numerous leadership positions for the American College of Gastroenterology, culminating in his year as President from 2004 to 2005.
